How to Wear and Care for a Tweed Jacket The tweed jacket has been worn by British gentleman for many years. Worn for many reasons including when tweed jackets were first constructed for highland farming and outdoor wear. Tweed jackets was made to keep you warm and modestly dry in poor weather conditions, which proved a great asset to the farmers and crofters. Infact these tweeds became so ideal for protection coastal climates of Norther Scotland. The quality became so well regarded that surplus was often used for barter, eventually becoming a form of currency for the islanders.
